Fools for Gold

I could sit at the bus stop in the snow
but i wouldn't know where to go
my shoes are worn down to the soul
only i can tell
they fit so well

the town is up and gone at nine
everyone's always out on time
am i supposed to fall in line
it's always Monday
the road is one-way

I've spent far too long inside
living a pretender's paradise
all this time i let it slide
and i've come to realize

I never imagined i'd be here
and i'm sorry baby
but every time
I think back and rewind
I see how everything's unclear
and amiss

The rope I wear you went and bought
You said you'd always leave it taut
and now the net you wove has caught
the fools for gold
but your kiss is cold

Every day it looks like rain
the colors never seem to change
and i'm about to go insane
you wonder why
I never cry
